After our breakfast, we set off towards Negombo. On the way, we visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Founded in 1975 with seven orphaned elephants, this center allows us to see the elephants up close and witness their feeding times and baths in the river. Then we check into our hotel. After having our breakfast at the hotel, we are resting. After checking out of the hotel, we head out for an afternoon city tour of Negombo. We see the structures from the Dutch and Portuguese colonial periods. We visit the lagoon area and explore the fish and shrimp auctions. We visit the Dutch Fort and a Catholic Church.
